General Application Requirements

A. Application Requirements for Master (Thesis) of Science Programs

1. Graduation Application Requirement

Applicants are required to either have a Bachelor’s degree or be about to graduate at the end of the term in which they apply

2. ALES/GRE Requirement

A minimum ALES quantitative score or a minimum GRE General Test quantitative score required by the program for which the prospective student applies can be found in the program-specific application requirements link given below. Note that these exams are valid for 5 years.

ALES Exam Result will be retrieved from Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM) during online application and this information will be used in application evaluation. If a GRE General Test quantitative score will be used in the application process, the applicant must manually enter its information into the online application system and upload the GRE exam document as a PDF file to the system.

Foreign applicants: If they do not satisfy the ALES or GRE score requirement, then they can apply conditionally. The applications of these candidates will be evaluated by the jury on the lowest GRE General Test quantitative score requested by the program. In case of admission to the program, the GRE exam result document fulfilling the GRE score requirement must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office within one month after the last day of the registration period. Students who fail to submit their exam document before this date will be dismissed from the program.

For applications for Master’s Degree (Thesis) programs, an ALES score is not required for the applicants who have a Ph.D degree/ proficiency in arts/ specialty in medicine/ specialty in dentistry/ specialty in veterinary medicine/ specialty in pharmacology. In the evaluation of these candidates, regardless of the type of score to enter the graduate program or their area of specialty, the ALES score will be taken into account as 75 points. These candidates must certify that they satisfy the above-mentioned requirements. (Diploma for graduates, transcript for the applicants who are in the phase of graduation). Unsigned transcripts taken from the student information system will not be accepted and the application will be considered invalid.

3. Language Requirement

IMPORTANT NOTE: The language of instruction of our institute is 100% English. The candidates who are accepted to the programs will be asked by IZTECH School of Foreign Languages to enter information and upload documents regarding their English exemption status to the online system. The candidates who satisfy the exemption requirements as well as the candidates who need to take the English Proficiency Exam will be announced by the IZTECH School of Foreign Languages. 4. Science Preparatory Program

Students whose bachelor’s degree is in a field other than that of the master’s program to which they were accepted, or students whose bachelor’s degree was earned at a university other than IzTech, may be required to participate in a science preparatory program to strengthen scientific knowledge. The duration of the science preparatory program is at most two semesters.

B. Application Requirements for Master (Non-Thesis) of Science Programs

C. Application Requirements for Ph.D. Programs with a Bachelor’s Degree

1. Degree Requirement

Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum CGPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (equal to 76.66 out of 100).

2. ALES/GRE Requirement

A minimum ALES quantitative score or minimum GRE General Test quantitative score required by the program for which the prospective student applies can be found in the program-specific application requirements link given below. Note that these exams are valid for 5 years.

3. Language Requirement

In order to apply, applicants must have a minimum score of 55 from YÖKDİL, YDS, e-YDS exams (taken within the past 5 years) or a minimum score of 66 from the TOEFL IBT Test (taken within the past 2 years).
YDS, e-YDS, YÖKDİL exam scores will be retrieved from ÖSYM during online application. In case of application with a YÖKDİL score taken before the fall of 2019 or with TOEFL (IBT), the applicant must manually enter their information into the online system and upload YÖKDİL or TOEFL (IBT) documents as PDF files to the system.

For foreign applicants: If they do not satisfy the min. 66 TOEFL (IBT) score requirement, then they can apply conditionally. In case of admission to the program, the TOEFL (IBT) result document fulfilling the TOEFL (IBT) score requirement must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office within one month after the last day of the registration period. Students who fail to submit their exam document before this date will be dismissed from the program

Following the announcement of the application results for the graduate programs, only the candidates who are accepted to the programs will be asked by IZTECH School of Foreign Languages to enter information and upload documents regarding their English exemption status. The candidates who satisfy the exemption requirements as well as the candidates who need to take the English Proficiency Exam will be announced by the IZTECH School of Foreign Languages. D. Application Requirements for Ph.D. Programs with a Master’s Degree
